Read College Open Day for Musical Theatre and Acting Courses

Our next Open Day for our full time Musical Theatre and Acting Courses will be on 24th November 2022

Our open days will give you the chance to watch classes in action, meet our students and chat to staff! You will be able to ask any questions that you have, and see first-hand why our Foundation Courses have industry-leading success rates. An attendee at our November 2021 open day wrote:

“We were blown away by the quality of the work shared with us and with the opportunity to observe lessons in progress. Every student we spoke to said that they loved each day they were at college which I think is unusual compared to other post 16 settings! The confidence, enthusiasm and sheer energy in the room was so impressive. It is clear that Read college has exceptionally committed teaching staff and a comprehensive and wide ranging curriculum delivering many more contact hours than would be found elsewhere.”

9.30 till 1pm – Musical Theatre (Foundation Course in Musical Theatre and Vocational Sixth Form in Musical Theatre)

2pm till 4.30pm – Acting (Foundation Course in Acting and Vocational Sixth Form in Acting)

Taster Tap Class: Beginners and Improvers!

Come along and try this taster tap class in Reading UK!

No experience or tap shoes necessary. We start off with a warm-up, then learn some steps, having fun putting them to music, before learning a longer routine, to a great tune, made up of some of the steps we've been working on.

Our teacher Natalie is professionally trained and experienced (Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, national no. 1 UK tours). Her routines are inspired by the lyrics of the music chosen and they mix in other genres, combining old-style hoofing with more contemporary rhythmic-based tap. Natalie encourages you to tell a story with every dance, without compromising your technical skills.

She makes the class challenging and enjoyable, with adaptations always available to accommodate injuries or difficulties with any movements. The Rising Sun Arts Centre has a beautiful wooden floor, which is ideal to tap on. Natalie is passionate about the skills she shares and the power of dance to improve physical and mental wellbeing.

For this taster class, no need to worry if you don't have tap shoes. Just come along with suitably close-fitting shoes (not trainers) which you can move in and you don't mind knocking about in, and enjoy!

15th November, Rising Sun Arts Centre, 30 Silver St Reading, RG1 2ST 7.30pm

This taster session is just £5 and if you like it, and want to join a class, we'll give you a £5 discount off the term's fee!

To book your place, please complete our contact form here: https://frontroomtheatre.co.uk/contact.html

And let us know if you have any questions!

All can attend, and it is wheelchair accessible, however, tap tends to be primarily about feet movement, which may make it more difficult to participate fully. Nonetheless, Natalie will adapt as much as she can, and will accommodate as much as possible.
